Data Science Co-op Option
Co-op is intended to integrate academic education with relevant, supervised and paid work experience in order to prepare students for future job markets (academic and non-academic).
The Co-op program for data science students is intended to prepare interested and qualified students for careers in data science and involves work placements in academic, governmental and private business settings, supervised by practising professionals.
Co-op can be a very valuable experience and is recommended for students with good academic standing. Once students are enrolled in the co-op program, they have access to all positions. To enter Data Sciences Co-op, students must have a B- average. Interested students should apply through the UBC Science Co-op office.
NOTE: Being eligible does not automatically guarantee your acceptance into the Co-op Program.

Data Science for Social Good
UBC's Data Science for Social Good (DSSG) is an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to gain paid research experience over the summer, working on collaborative projects that help communities.
This 14-week interdisciplinary summer program is offered by the UBC Data Science Institute, and brings together data providers and domain experts to work with talented students (DSSG Fellows) on data-intensive projects that have the potential to benefit society.
